Take a scenic drive or hike in the nearby trails to immerse yourself in the vibrant colors of the season. Finally you’ll get to experience that you most likely have seen on some Instagram accounts. The Catskills is a place where it’s happening actually.

Hiking: Explore the various hiking trails in the Catskills, such as the Belleayre Mountain Trails or nearby ones like the Catskill Center's Platte Clove Preserve. The cooler fall temperatures and colorful scenery make for a great hiking experience.

Wildlife Watching: Late autumn is also a good time for wildlife watching as animals prepare for winter. Bring your binoculars and look for birds, deer, and other wildlife in the area. Yes, there are bears but they’re rather shy. Many trail bases will give you instructions what to do at an encounter.

Local Breweries and Cideries: Enjoy the flavors of the season by visiting local breweries and cideries. Sample some craft beers or artisanal ciders, and perhaps take a tour to learn about the production process.

Scenic Drives: If you want to keep it simple the Catskills offer some stunning scenic routes. We enjoy driving along Route 28 or other nearby roads to enjoy the mesmerising color pallet of the forrest.

We can vouch for the Belleayre fall festival where you’ll enjoy live music, car shows, local snacks, games and much more.
